Act of Consecration

This act of consecration offers the whole day, and every day of our lives, to God's honor and glory. In union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it gives God all our prayers, works, and sufferings for the same intentions for which Christ offers Himself in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: thanksgiving, reparation for sin, our own needs, the needs of the Church, the conversion of sinners, and the relief of the souls in purgatory. It is closely related to the Morning Offering of the Apostleship of Prayer.

Pray it first thing in the morning, before your day gets busy. Some people renew it at noon or before starting work. It is also a fitting prayer on New Year's Day, at the start of a new job or school year, on First Fridays, and on your baptismal anniversary. Once it is offered, every hour, task, joy, and sorrow of the day can become an act of love.

The Prayer

O my God, I wish to consecrate this day and all the days of my life to Thy honor and glory. Almighty and eternal God! I offer Thee all my prayers, works, and sufferings in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, for the intentions for which He pleads and offers Himself in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in thanksgiving for Thy favors, in reparation for my offenses, and in humble supplication for my temporal and eternal welfare, for the wants of our holy Mother the Church, for the conversion of sinners, and for the relief of the poor souls in purgatory. Amen.
