Prayer for Perseverance

Jesus said, "He that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved" (Matthew 24:13). The Church calls final perseverance, remaining in God's grace until the moment of death, a great gift that we cannot earn but must humbly ask for. This prayer borrows the words of the traditional Act of Hope, trusting in God's goodness and promises, and adds a direct request for the grace of final perseverance.
Pray it daily, especially in times of spiritual dryness, after falling into sin, or when you feel tempted to give up on prayer or the sacraments. It is also a good prayer for converts, for those preparing for vows or marriage, and for the elderly and dying. The saints repeated this petition often, knowing that every good ending is a gift of God.
The Prayer
O my God, relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Grant me the grace of final perseverance. Amen.
