Prayer to St. Peter the Apostle

St. Peter, the fisherman Simon whom Jesus renamed "Rock," was the first among the Apostles. When he confessed, "Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God," Jesus answered, "Thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church" (Matthew 16:16-18). Although Peter denied the Lord three times, he wept bitterly, was restored by the risen Christ, and ultimately gave his life as a martyr in Rome.
This prayer asks St. Peter for a strong, living faith and the grace never to deny the Lord. Pray it on June 29, the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, and on February 22, the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter. It is also a fitting prayer for the Pope, for bishops, and for anyone who has fallen and wants to begin again.
The Prayer
O glorious Saint Peter, who, in return for thy lively faith and firm confession of the divinity of Christ, wast made the rock of the Church, obtain for me a strong and living faith. Pray that I may never deny my Lord, but may confess Him always by word and deed. Amen.
