Prayer to St. Paul the Apostle

St. Paul went from persecuting Christians to becoming the great Apostle to the Gentiles. He preached across the Roman world and wrote the letters that make up much of the New Testament, and he was martyred in Rome. The Church celebrates his conversion on January 25 and honors him with St. Peter on June 29.

This short traditional prayer asks his help for a living faith and for the love of Christ crucified that burned in his own heart ("I am crucified with Christ"). It is a good prayer for converts, for anyone returning to the Church, for preachers, writers, and missionaries, and for anyone who needs courage to speak about the faith. Pray it on his feast days or before reading Scripture.

O glorious St. Paul, obtain for me a lively faith and the grace to love Christ crucified as thou didst. Amen.
