Prayer to St. Patrick

St. Patrick, the fifth-century apostle of Ireland, was born in Roman Britain. At sixteen he was kidnapped by raiders and enslaved in Ireland, where he turned to prayer while tending sheep. He escaped, trained for the priesthood, and returned to Ireland as a bishop and missionary. His own writings, the Confession and the Letter to Coroticus, reveal a humble man overwhelmed by God's mercy. Legend says he used the shamrock to teach the Holy Trinity.
His feast is March 17, celebrated around the world wherever the Irish have settled. This prayer asks St. Patrick to help us walk in the light of the Gospel, resist the snares of the evil one, and love the Holy Trinity. Pray it on his feast, for Ireland and the Irish diaspora, and for missionaries and all who bring the faith to others.
The Prayer
O glorious Saint Patrick, apostle of Ireland, and patron of so many, obtain for us from God the grace to walk in the light of the Gospel as thou didst. Drive far from us the snares of the evil one, and help us to love the Holy Trinity as thou didst teach. Amen.
