Nunc Dimittis (Canticle of Simeon)

The Nunc Dimittis is Simeon's canticle from Luke 2, traditionally prayed at night prayer as a song of peaceful surrender.

The Prayer

Now Thou dost dismiss Thy servant, O Lord, according to Thy word in peace; Because my eyes have seen Thy salvation, Which Thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples: A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of Thy people Israel. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
